Biography

I am a social and applied epistemologist with an interdisciplinary background in philosophy, political science, economics and Science & Technology Studies (STS). My research focuses on the conditions under which knowledge is produced, circulated, and integrated in contemporary societies, particularly in contexts where such knowledge informs public decision-making.
To better understand and strengthen knowledge practices, I combine conceptual and argumentative analysis – methods dear to philosophers – with qualitative, quantitative, and computational empirical methods.
I am a full professor in the Department of Philosophy and Applied Ethics, Université de Sherbrooke. I am also director of Bureau des initiatives numériques (BIN) at CIRST and director of Plateforme en humanités numériques (PHuN). I lead the Research stream at Réseau francophone international en conseil scientifique (RFICS). I held the Canada Research Chair in Applied Epistemology from 2015 to 2025. My research projects explore, among other things, scientific expertise, interdisciplinarity, and digital infrastructures for research.
